Fairview Football Crushes Rocky Mountain 63-21, Eyes Playoffs
UPDATE: Fairview High School football team just delivered a stunning performance, dominating the Rocky Mountain Lobos 63-21 in their regular-season finale on October 31, 2025. This decisive victory not only showcased their prowess but also firmly positioned them for the upcoming playoffs.
The Knights, who are now 9-1 this season, came into this game with a chip on their shoulder after last year’s semifinal exit. Junior quarterback Ki Ellison emphasized the team’s determination, stating, “We’re just as good as last year. Our morale is really good, and we feel overlooked this year, so we’re ready to make a statement.”
From the very first play, it was clear that Fairview meant business. Senior wide receiver Sabi Ruttgers sprinted 70 yards for a touchdown just 13 seconds into the game, setting the tone for an explosive night. Ruttgers finished the game with an impressive four touchdowns, including two from Ellison.
Ellison and senior standout Toray Davis also contributed significantly, each scoring multiple touchdowns as the Knights unleashed a relentless offensive assault on the Lobos. Their collective effort sent a clear message to the rest of the 5A league: Fairview is back and ready for another championship run.
“It was just energy at practice every day, extra work, putting the work in off the field and on the field,” Ellison added, reflecting on the team’s preparation.
This commanding victory serves as a crucial momentum boost as Fairview looks toward the playoffs, with the bracket to be released by the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) on Sunday. Their only setback this season came in a narrow loss to Arvada West, ranked No. 4, which they lost by just one point, 34-33.
Head coach Tom McCartney praised his team’s depth and resilience, noting, “We’ve got a lot of guys going both ways. We’re just trying to stay healthy and play our best.” Despite losing last year’s star player Jordan Rechel, Fairview has proven they can adapt and excel.
As the playoffs approach, the Knights are eager to showcase their talents and avenge last year’s semi-final exit. With players like Ruttgers and Ellison leading the charge, Fairview is determined to make a significant impact.
All eyes will be on this formidable team as they prepare to enter the postseason, with fans eagerly anticipating where they will land in the playoff bracket. The urgency is palpable—Fairview football is poised to make history once again.
