BREAKING: Madison Chock and Evan Bates have just secured a stunning silver medal in ice dance at the 2026 Winter Olympics. This achievement marks a significant milestone for the couple, as it is their first Olympic medal in ice dance, awarded following a breathtaking performance on January 25, 2026.

Chock and Bates dazzled audiences with their free dance routine, scoring 134.67 points while performing to ‘Paint It Black’ by Ramin Djawadi. However, they fell just 1.43 points short of gold, finishing behind France’s Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron, who clinched victory with a score of 135.64. The American duo had entered the finals trailing by only 0.46 points after the rhythm dance program earlier this week.

This silver medal comes after a dominant showing in the team event, where Chock and Bates helped Team USA secure its second consecutive gold. Their journey together spans an impressive 15 years, and they celebrated their marriage in 2024.

Chock expressed mixed emotions following the event:

“We gave it our all, and while we hoped for gold, this silver is a testament to our hard work and dedication.”

The competition was not without its controversies. Beaudry and Cizeron, who have been skating together for less than a year, have faced scrutiny over past allegations involving Cizeron. He previously won gold at the 2022 Winter Olympics with former partner Gabriella Papadakis, who has accused him of abusive behavior, which he has denied.

The dynamics of ice dance continue to evolve, with Beaudry, who represented Canada until recently, now competing for France after obtaining citizenship last November. Her previous partner, Nikolaj Sørensen, was suspended following serious allegations, prompting her partnership with Cizeron.

As the 2026 Winter Olympics unfold, all eyes are on Chock and Bates as they prepare for the upcoming competitions. With their determination and skill, fans are eagerly anticipating if they can capture gold in future events.

Stay tuned for more updates and insights on their journey!
