Mustache Challenge Kicks Off Tonight to Support Local Kids
UPDATE: The annual mustache challenge organized by Mustaches For Kids Nashville kicks off tonight, pulling the community together for a month-long fundraising effort for local children’s charities. The event will begin with a Clean Shave gathering at Tailgate Brewing this evening, where participants will shave their faces clean before embarking on their mustache-growing journey throughout November.
Local president of Mustaches For Kids, Mike Simmons, emphasizes the significance of the event: “When you normally have a big beard and you shave clean, people that know you are going to look at you and give you a double take. That’s the perfect intro for you to say, ‘this is what I’m doing, this is why I’m doing it.’”
The Clean Shave event is set to take place tonight at 6 PM, with experienced barber Mark Young from Dark Horse Collective assisting participants in achieving that fresh look. “One by one we’re just going to start taking all the facial hair off, get a nice clean slate and have them boys grow some cool mustaches,” Young explains.
This engaging fundraising initiative encourages participants to grow their mustaches throughout November while gathering donations from friends and family. Jason Koontz, a dedicated participant, is already promoting the cause online, sharing his clean-shaven face and inviting others to join him. “I shaved everything down and started making some content to post online and promote the ‘stache growing season,” Koontz noted.
This year, the mustache challenge benefits two local charities: Williamson County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and the Transformation Life Center. Since its inception in 2021, Mustaches For Kids Nashville has raised over $121,000 for various charities, making a significant impact in the community.
Participants enjoy the lighthearted nature of the challenge, with Simmons noting, “Just sort of laugh at the fact that some of us don’t grow very good mustaches, and some of us do.”
As the challenge begins tonight, community members are encouraged to join in the fun, whether by growing a mustache or donating to support local children in need. For more information on joining the fundraiser or contributing, visit the Mustaches For Kids Nashville website.
The excitement is palpable, and as participants prepare to showcase their mustaches by the end of November, the community is ready to rally behind a good cause. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to support local charities while having fun with facial hair!
