The New 96.1 Launches All-Christmas Music for Holiday Season

UPDATE: The New 96.1 has officially kicked off the holiday season in Buffalo, NY, by flipping to all-Christmas music, starting this past weekend. This festive announcement comes just in time for families looking to immerse themselves in the holiday spirit.
Morning host Dave Fields confirmed that the station is the only one in the area dedicated to playing Christmas music 24/7, stating, “We wanted to get a jump on the holiday season. We know people of Western New York love hearing Christmas music, especially right after Halloween.” The all-Christmas format will continue through Christmas Day and beyond, ensuring that listeners have a steady stream of holiday classics.
The launch celebration featured an exciting lineup of special guests, including Joshua Vacanti from NBC’s The Voice and other local musical talents, along with a surprise visit from Santa Claus himself, creating a magical atmosphere for attendees.
In addition to the musical festivities, Fields highlighted the station’s charitable initiative, the Cans for Christmas Food Drive, in partnership with St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy. “We’re collecting non-perishable food items now through December 14,” he said. “We have tons of great locations all across Western New York, like Vidler’s in East Aurora and the law offices of William Mattar.” This effort aims to support those in need during the holiday season.
For many listeners, Christmas music is more than just sound; it evokes cherished memories and brings families together. Fields shared his personal connection to the music, recalling, “My biggest one is Little Drummer Boy. I was like four or five years old. My dad would dance around the kitchen with me back in West Seneca to that song, and every time I hear it, it brings me back to that memory.” His emotional attachment emphasizes the significant role Christmas music plays in fostering family bonds during the holidays.
The New 96.1 encourages listeners to participate by submitting their favorite song requests through the station’s app, ensuring everyone can enjoy the music that resonates with them. With this all-Christmas initiative, the station is set to become a central part of the holiday experience in Buffalo.
Stay tuned for more updates as the holiday season unfolds, and make sure to join in the festive fun with The New 96.1!
