Tragic Crash Claims Lives of Two Sisters in Fresno County
UPDATE: A devastating car crash in Fresno County, California, has resulted in the tragic deaths of two sisters, sending shockwaves through their community. The incident occurred on Tuesday night on Belmont Avenue near Brawley Avenue, as details emerge about the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking event.
The California Highway Patrol reports that 21-year-old Angelina Nino was speeding when she failed to stop at a stop sign on Brawley Avenue. The car veered off the road, resulting in the fatal crash. Angelina was pronounced dead at the scene, while her 14-year-old sister, Rayla Piedra, was rushed to the hospital but tragically succumbed to her injuries shortly thereafter.
The crash also left a 27-year-old man in the vehicle injured and hospitalized, adding to the family’s distress during this painful time.
In an emotional statement, Lorraine Quinonez, an aunt of the sisters, expressed the family’s profound grief. “So the weight of it all, it’s heavy, because it’s not just one, it’s both of them, both of our baby girls and we all helped raise them,” she shared with Action News. “I’m just trying to be as strong as I can for my sister.”
Rayla was eagerly anticipating her 15th birthday on November 8, and the family is left devastated by the loss of both sisters, who were described as beloved members of their community.
In light of this tragedy, a GoFundMe page has been established to assist the family with funeral arrangements. Community members are encouraged to contribute and show their support during this heartbreaking time.
As the investigation into the crash continues, authorities urge drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such tragedies. The impact of this incident resonates deeply, reminding us of the fragility of life and the importance of safety on the roads.
