Vince McMahon’s 100 MPH Crash Caught on Police Video – Details Inside
UPDATE: Newly released police video captures former WWE executive Vince McMahon in a shocking car crash while driving over 100 mph on a Connecticut highway last summer. The incident occurred on July 24, 2023, when McMahon was driving his 2024 Bentley Continental GT on the Merritt Parkway in Westport, with a state trooper in pursuit.
The dashcam footage shows McMahon accelerating away from the trooper’s vehicle before slamming into the rear of a BMW. The impact caused McMahon’s Bentley to veer into a guardrail, scattering debris across the highway. Remarkably, no serious injuries were reported, but another vehicle was struck by flying debris during the chaos, with the driver wearing a WWE shirt, according to police records.
In a tense exchange captured by police body cameras, Detective Maxwell Robins asked McMahon why he was driving at such high speeds. McMahon replied, “I got my granddaughter’s birthday,” highlighting a personal urgency that adds emotional weight to the incident.
Authorities confirmed that McMahon was cited for reckless driving and following too closely. He was allowed to enter a pretrial probation program in October, which could erase the charges from his record next year if completed successfully, alongside a mandated $1,000 charitable contribution. McMahon’s attorney, Mark Sherman, emphasized that the crash was an accident, stating, “Not every car accident is a crime.”
The incident coincided with the death of WWE legend Hulk Hogan, further intensifying media scrutiny. The police report initially did not mention the pursuit, but video evidence shows Robins attempting to catch up to McMahon as he sped down the parkway.
The released footage also includes an exchange where McMahon insists he was not using his phone at the time of the crash and acknowledges the speed of his car, quipping, “Yeah, too (expletive) fast.”
The driver of the BMW, Barbara Doran, later recounted that McMahon expressed concern for her wellbeing after the crash. She was en route to a ferry to Martha’s Vineyard when the collision occurred.
As McMahon faces ongoing legal challenges, including a pending sexual abuse lawsuit, this incident further complicates the narrative surrounding the former wrestling mogul, who transformed the World Wrestling Federation into a global powerhouse after purchasing it in 1982.
The public’s interest in McMahon’s legal troubles and personal decisions continues to grow, making this incident not only a traffic mishap but a significant moment in his controversial career. The release of this footage is expected to reignite discussions about McMahon’s past and present, as the world watches closely for further developments in his legal battles.
