White House Supports Trump After Controversial ‘Piggy’ Remark
The White House has defended President Donald Trump following a controversial remark he made to a reporter aboard Air Force One. During an exchange last week, Trump became visibly frustrated with questions regarding Jeffrey Epstein, leading him to point at the reporter and exclaim, “Quiet, piggy!” This incident, captured on video and shared by the White House, quickly garnered widespread attention and sparked significant outrage.
In response to the backlash, a White House official described the reporter’s conduct as “inappropriate and unprofessional.” The official suggested that reporters should develop a thicker skin when facing tough questions. “If you’re going to give it, you have to be able to take,” they stated during an interview with MS NOW.
The remarks came amidst growing scrutiny surrounding Epstein’s connections, particularly following the release of emails mentioning Trump. The president has responded sharply to media inquiries related to Epstein and other sensitive topics. Just days after the Air Force One incident, Trump confronted an ABC News reporter who questioned Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman about the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. During that exchange, Trump criticized the reporter’s tone and threatened to revoke ABC’s broadcast license, stating, “I think the license should be taken away from ABC, because your news is so fake and it’s so wrong.”
The tensions reflect a broader pattern of Trump’s contentious relationship with the media, particularly concerning critical reporting about his administration. In recent weeks, he has faced questions not only about Epstein but also about various domestic and foreign policy issues, leading to several heated exchanges with journalists.
As the situation develops, analysts are watching closely to see how these interactions may affect public perception of both Trump and the media. The incident aboard Air Force One adds to a growing list of confrontations, raising questions about the boundaries of professional conduct between public figures and the press.
