Family Remembers Robert M. MacLean Jr. Following His Passing
The family of Robert M. “Mac” MacLean Jr. has announced his peaceful passing on November 2, 2025, at the age of 78. A longtime resident of Concord, New Hampshire, Mac’s life was marked by dedicated service, both in the military and his community.
Born on January 30, 1947, to Ruth and Robert MacLean Sr., Mac devoted 26 years to the United States Air Force. Following his retirement, he continued his commitment to service with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Manchester, where he worked for 17 years. During this period, he also earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Franklin Pierce College.
Mac was a prominent figure in the Masonic fraternity, actively participating for over 30 years. He served as Master of Horace Chase Lodge in Boscawen from 2006 to 2007 and was a committed member of the Scottish Rite. His contributions to these organizations underscored his dedication to community and brotherhood.
He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Carol Larsen MacLean, along with daughters Heather Jache and Holly Cheney. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Sarah Jache and Nathan Cheney. He is also survived by his sisters Nancy Phillips and her husband Les of Surprise, Arizona; Betty Burrill and her husband Thomas of Concord; and Deborah Bourassa of Concord. Mac was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Patricia Andrews.
Mac cherished his time spent at the family camp on the Contoocook River, where he enjoyed outdoor projects. He also had a passion for bowling and looked forward to the annual Scottish Highland Games at Loon Mountain.
Funeral services will be held at Bennett Funeral Home in Concord, with calling hours scheduled for Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from 16:00 to 18:00. A funeral service will follow on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 10:30 AM, with burial at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. Arrangements for the services have been entrusted to Bennett Funeral Home.
Mac’s contributions to his family, community, and country will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
