UPDATE: A powerful cold air mass is sweeping through the Lehigh Valley today, bringing gusty northwest winds and chilly temperatures after early morning flurries. Residents are experiencing wind gusts up to 35 mph, with earlier gusts reaching a staggering 58 mph reported at Lehigh Valley International Airport just yesterday, according to the National Weather Service.

Following a brief period of snow flurries around dawn, temperatures are struggling to rise above the mid to upper 40s. As the day progresses, residents can expect continued windy conditions, with early morning gusts gradually diminishing to 15 to 25 mph later today. Overnight, temperatures are predicted to drop into the upper 20s, with even colder readings possible in outlying areas if winds calm.

This weather situation is significant as it poses challenges for outdoor activities and commuting, particularly during the morning and evening hours. Authorities urge residents to dress in layers and remain cautious given the strong winds and biting cold.

Looking ahead, the cold pattern is set to continue on Tuesday with highs still in the 40s and a potential for rain in the evening. However, a warm front is expected to arrive by Friday, possibly boosting temperatures into the mid-50s to mid-60s. This shift could provide some relief from the current chill, but a secondary cold front may follow on Saturday, leading to more fluctuations in weather.

Stay tuned for further updates as conditions develop and prepare for a chilly day ahead in the Lehigh Valley.
