CU Buffs Face Offensive Line Crisis Ahead of West Virginia Clash
UPDATE: The Colorado Buffaloes are grappling with a critical offensive line injury crisis just days before their vital matchup against West Virginia on October 7, 2023, at 10 a.m. MT, broadcasted on TNT. As the team prepares for this crucial game, their trench depth is being severely tested.
One starting offensive lineman, Xavier Hill, who missed last week’s game due to a concussion, is reported as probable to return. However, two key players, Jordan Seaton and Larry Johnson III, are both listed as questionable, raising alarms among fans and analysts alike.
Johnson, who has been a consistent presence, starting in eight games this season, played only six snaps in the last game against Arizona. Meanwhile, Seaton, who has started the last 22 games for CU, played all but five snaps against Arizona, indicating the significance of his potential absence.
The Buffaloes have confirmed that four players will be out for the upcoming game: receiver Hykeem Williams, cornerback Makari Vickers, and defensive linemen Amari McNeill and Christian Hudson. Williams and Vickers have missed the last three and two games respectively, while McNeill and Hudson have been sidelined for one game.
In a further blow to the Buffaloes’ defense, safety Tawfiq Byard will miss the first half of the game due to a targeting penalty incurred in the last match. Additionally, running back Simeon Price, who has been absent for five consecutive games, is listed as doubtful, though he has resumed practice this week.
CU’s injury report also highlights cornerbacks RJ Johnson and DJ McKinney as questionable. Johnson has not played since Week 3, while McKinney, who saw a season-low 31 snaps against Arizona, is facing a new injury concern.
Among the players listed as probable are receivers Omarion Miller and Joseph Williams, cornerbacks Teon Parks and Braden Keith, and tight ends Zach Atkins and Brady Kopetz, along with Hill. The uncertainty surrounding these athletes adds to the tension as CU prepares for a pivotal contest.
On the opposing side, West Virginia is also facing challenges, with nine players ruled out, including safety Jordan Walker, who missed last week’s game as well. The injury reports from both teams indicate a looming showdown that could shift the momentum for either side.
With so much at stake, the Buffaloes’ ability to adapt and address their injury woes will be crucial as they head into this crucial Big 12 contest. Fans and analysts are keenly watching the situation unfold as kickoff approaches.
Stay tuned for the latest updates as we continue to monitor the health and readiness of the Buffaloes leading up to their game against West Virginia.
