Missing Teen Rescued from Pennsylvania Basement, Suspect Arrested

URGENT UPDATE: A missing teen from Louisiana has been rescued from a basement in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she was allegedly held by a 26-year-old man, Ki-Shawn Crumity. The Pittsburgh Special Victims Unit (SVU), in collaboration with U.S. Marshals, confirmed the shocking discovery on October 31, 2023.

Authorities received a tip-off that the teen could be at a residence linked to Crumity. Upon investigation, they found her in a sheet-covered box in the basement of his home. The teen, whose age has not been disclosed, reported that Crumity was over 11 years older than her.

The ordeal began when the teen connected with Crumity through Snapchat. He promised to help her find a “trusted adult” for adoption. She eventually traveled to Washington, D.C., where she met another woman who offered assistance. Together, they made their way to Pittsburgh.

Detectives revealed that the teen alleged she shared a bed with Crumity and the unidentified woman in the basement, where she endured repeated sexual assaults. “It was the safest I’ve ever felt,” she reportedly told detectives while receiving medical care.

Criminal charges against Crumity include multiple felonies: trafficking, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with minors, and corruption of minors, among others. Crumity has been denied bail and is currently held in Allegheny County Jail.

The woman who accompanied the teen from D.C. has not been charged at this time, leaving questions about her involvement. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to assess the situation.
