North Carolina Secures $4.8M Settlement with JustFab, Refunds Pending
UPDATE: North Carolina has just announced a groundbreaking $4.8 million multistate settlement with TFG Holding, Inc., the parent company of popular online retailers JustFab, ShoeDazzle, and FabKids. This settlement addresses serious allegations of deceptive marketing practices that have impacted countless consumers.
Attorney General Jeff Jackson revealed today that the lawsuit, filed by 33 attorneys general nationwide, accused TFG of misleading customers into signing up for a VIP membership program. Customers were enticed with discounted pricing but faced $49.95 monthly charges unless they actively opted out each month. The lawsuit also highlighted issues such as misrepresentation of prices, automatic enrollment without consent, and complicated cancellation processes.
As part of this significant settlement, consumers in North Carolina will receive $197,552 in restitution. Affected customers can expect automatic refunds if they are among the 87 individuals identified. Others who believe they were misled are urged to file a complaint with the North Carolina Department of Justice by January 30, 2026, to seek their refunds.
In a statement, Attorney General Jackson emphasized the importance of this settlement, saying,
“The money we won back will help refund customers who were misled by these companies. If you had a bad experience with any of these brands, please file a complaint with our office.”
The settlement mandates TFG to enhance its practices, requiring clearer consent from customers and ensuring they are fully aware of the VIP program’s terms. Additionally, the company must eliminate recurring charges without consent and simplify the cancellation process for customers.
This urgent development is set to have a significant impact on consumers who felt trapped by TFG’s practices. With refunds on the horizon, affected individuals are encouraged to take action now to reclaim their funds.
As this story unfolds, stay tuned for updates on how TFG implements these new requirements and the ongoing efforts of the North Carolina Attorney General’s office to protect consumers.
