Berks Catholic and Annville Cleona Clash for LL Section 5 Title
The stage is set for a highly anticipated showdown as Berks Catholic and Annville Cleona prepare to compete for the Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 5 title on the final weekend of the regular season. Both teams enter the match undefeated in the league, having recorded impressive victories on Friday night, with Annville Cleona finishing the league at 6-0 and Berks Catholic at 6-0 as well.
Annville Cleona, boasting an overall record of 8-1, secured their spot in the title game with a narrow 14-7 victory over Schuylkill Valley. The Dutchmen took control early, leading 7-0 at halftime thanks to a 6-yard touchdown run by Devon Englehart. They extended their lead to 14-0 in the third quarter on a remarkable 97-yard touchdown run by Jon Moran. Despite a strong effort from Schuylkill Valley, who pulled within a touchdown in the fourth quarter with a 5-yard touchdown pass from Alex Aletras to Alex Gehret, the Dutchmen held on for the victory.
Berks Catholic, with an overall record of 7-2, showcased their dominance in a decisive 38-7 win against Hamburg. The team amassed an impressive total of 377 rushing yards during the game. Jeremiah Camara led the charge with 113 yards on 17 carries, including a 21-yard scoring run. Coy Koller contributed significantly with 100 yards on just 7 carries, finding the end zone on runs of 33 and 22 yards. Additional touchdowns came from Aidan Curley, who scored on a 28-yard run, and Johnny Sauppee, who added a 1-yard touchdown run. Alex Reali also made his mark with a 23-yard field goal. For Hamburg, Isaac McFadden connected on an 18-yard touchdown pass to Owen Bentz.
